Hello there,
I just ruined two double layer DVDs when I tried to copy my "7 Samarai full HD" 5.7 GB AVI to DVD. Both times, burning went "OK", but then k3b couldnt finalize the disc. Is there anythign special I need to do for a) double layer discs (burned some without problems before) b) such large files? |

No, you don't have to do anything special, it should just work (tm).
A couple of questions:

a) K3B says: Version 1.68.0 b) According to the output I remember - burning reached 100%, so all content arrived at the disk; but the final step that "fixes"/finalizes/whatevers-i-dont-remember the disc ... failed. c) my "last log" is from my a successfull "burn" I made afterwards. As a double layer disc is somewhat expensive I am somewhat hesitant to repro the failure ... Anything else I could do to help? |

Schrotted another DL DVD today ... then I figured I check the bugs database. And voila; there is one that describes a problem with k3b 1.68
According to the bugs database it is fixed; but it seems that none of the kubuntu PPA repositories contains a newer version than 1.68 Now I hope that brasero works better. |

OK; and brasero did cost me another DVD. It seemed to ran fine; and in the end there was an error message about "probably some files not right".
So I upgraded my ubuntu to the latest backports KDE ... and then I was able to install the lucid lynx version of k3b (1.69). That one passed the first check (insert a already-written double layer DVD, tools->copy ... immediately fails with 1.68). So, I am trying again. Hopefully not killing another DVD: |

For working large file support you need to use the
original mkisofs instead of the broken fork. http://cdrecord.berlios.de |
