I copied Star Trek XI using k9copy, went to k3b and had a 12.3 Gb file to burn. How did this happen and where do I go from here?

Why don't you just use Tools->Copy medium... directly from K3b?

i had the same thing.
A workaround is to copy the dvd using k3b, and select [create only image].

k3b now copies the disk without any trouble to the hard drive

after you copied it, go to [tools -> burn image]. k3b now burns the iso file without any issue.
