K3b version 1.68.0
KDE 4.4.1 OS: Kubuntu 9.10 (32-bit) The notifications - k3b_success1.wav and k3b_error1.wav get 'clipped', with only the first note of the file being played. k3b_wait_media1.wav doesn't play at all, as this file appears to be empty. If I navigate to these files in Dolphin (/usr/share/sounds) and click on k3b_success1.wav and k3b_error1.wav they play as expected (I use VLC). k3b_wait_media1.wav doesn't play anything in VLC. These same three files, when tested in System Settings > Notifications > Applications Event Source K3b exhibit the same behavior - clipping and no sound.

Which Multimedia backend are you using?

This may be a known issue with the Xine backend I believe, can you test using GStreamer?

Installed phonon-backend-gstreamer. Made it the preferred backend and tested these sound files. They work!
Thank you.

I'm running openSUSE 11.3 and 11.4 with the same problem. It was also fixed by your suggestion. Thanks for posting it!

Hi all KDE users!
Well, I am using Linux Mint 9, with gnome, because the wireless card dont works in kde 4.X... (hp pavilion dv2-1110us) And absolutely k3b is the better cd burner... I have the same problem related up...the k3b_success1.wav play only the first note... The question is (I am relatively newbie in Linux), how make phonon the preferred backend? Thanks! |

All KDE applications should use Phonon. This is likely either a bug in K3b, as it isn't using the standard notifications framework, or a bug in the Phonon backend, which can't handle that file.
