cleaning house and would like to archive numerous distros on cd disc to a large external hard drive. Am selecting copy cd but then am given choice of "normal" or "clone".
I need these to be.iso just like they came when I d/l them so at a later date if I want to burn to cd, they will be bootable. 1. Noticed that "clone" produces a .TOC file in addition to the .iso file. TOC file produces an md5sun result. Is that what this is? 2. Should I use normal or clone for this purpose? I have also used dd command but don't know which choice in k3b should be used. UPDATE: bigger problem. Just got lucky with that 1 distro. I have tried 5-6 different distros on different brand media all in pristine condition. tried k3b and dd on two laptops running pclos2009.1 and one desktop with mdv2008.1. Not likely all three optical drives are bad. All discs are in pristine condition and I know they work b/c have done installs with them and md5 checks out. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks |

Did you use the "Copy Medium" option on the start page? If so, ticking the "Only generate image" and having "Normal Copy" selected should be enough.
