Hi
Since Dolphin no longer supports search by Nepomuk tags, I wonder what is the use of Nepomuk at all (both the semantic desktop and the file indexer)?. In addition, I must say that even though the file indexer is idle and I have ~19 000 files indexed using the Nepomuk Desktop Search yield very poor results (i.e. only a handful of results) on even very common words which are found in many of my documents/scripts. I hope this doesn't sound too sarcastic, because it's not. I'd really appreciate tips on what can actually be done with Nepomuk semantic desktop and indexer. Thanks in advance, Roey |

At least in kde 4.10 rc you can use kio like
Or use nepomuksearch like
You can use it from all application with kioslave support inclusive the terminal with the kioclient command more http://userbase.kde.org/Nepomuk/kioslaves/search |

Thanks!
It took me a bit of googling to figure out what you're talking about (never heard of kio) and also figuring out that I need to run these from Dolphin search bar. In any case I don't have KDE 4.10 yet only the stable 4.9.4, and these commands don't work on it (neither I did manage to make a simple query search using
But the files I got did not contain the word 'Query' so I don't really understand based on what they were chosen (also looking for other keywords yielded puzzling results). What am I missing out here? Is there a concise guide somewhere or a cheatsheet? Should I just wait for release 4.10? Thanks again for the help Roey |

there's a python app you could try called nepoogle that can be found at http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Ne ... ent=145505

Thanks!
I managed to run it but only the git version (https://github.com/serantes/nepoogle). It searches for tags nicely but when searching just a keyword I only get files with the keyword in their name not in their content and for searching files by name I can use other faster tools. Is there a way to search within the file? Thanks again, Roey |

suggestion - start a new thread with Nepoogle in the subject, the apps author may see it and respond

I have really no idea.
But maybe try troubleshoot with manually add a file (in the terminal) to the index with
I tried this (with disabled indexer so it shouldn't be automatically added) and the file got added and was searchable with the usual tools. |

Nepoogle versions previous to 1.0 only search in content properties using related ontologies, for example nie:PlainTextContent:"a search text". After Nepoogle 1.0 included search in content is automatic.
