EDIT:
My problem is solved. I installed the package baloo4.

Hi,
I strongly suspect that Nepomuk/Baloo is not running on my systems. This comes from the facts that e-mail-search does not work, adressbook-completion does not work and finding files using krunner does work only using a plugin named fsrunner. Also I have the same symptoms as viewtopic.php?f=154&t=122256 .

I'm using Debian Jessie without third party repositories. Therefore, I'm using KDE 4.10.

Nepomuk/Baloo appears to be not running:
Code: Select all
pgrep -a nepomuk
pgrep -a virtu
pgrep -a balo
pgrep -a nepomuk*
pgrep -a virtu*
pgrep -a balo*
1375 /usr/bin/kglobalaccel

However, the packages itself are installed:
Code: Select all
aptitude search nepomuk | grep ^i
i A libnepomuk4                     - Nepomuk Meta Data Library
i A libnepomukcore4                 - Nepomuk Meta Data Library
i A libnepomukquery4a               - Nepomuk Query Library for the KDE Platform
i A libnepomukutils4                - Nepomuk Utility Library
i A nepomuk-core-data               - Nepomuk Semantik Desktop core libraries --

Code: Select all
aptitude search balo | grep ^i
i A libbaloocore4                   - Core funcationality for Baloo
i A libbaloofiles4                  - Files funcationality for Baloo
i A libbaloopim4                    - PIM funcationality for Baloo
i A libbalooqueryparser4            - Query Parser for Baloo
i A libbaloowidgets4                - Widgets for Baloo
i A libbalooxapian4                 - Xapian funcationality for Baloo

Unfortunatley, as in Thread viewtopic.php?f=154&t=122256 I don't have got a "Destkop Search" icon in the systems settings. Even the installation of "virtuoso-minimal" did not change this.

I hope that in solving this problem and thus bringing nepomuk/baloo to life I'll solve a couple of other problems as well.

Could anyone help me here?

thank you in advance

balooctl status

For me:
Baloo File Indexer is running
Indexed 53481 / 53481 files
Failed to index 0 files

balooctl enable should turn it on, both are as normal user, not root.

Unfortunately, there is nothing like balooctl:

Code: Select all
$ cd / && find -iname balooctl 2> /dev/null
$

Same for Nepomuk:
Code: Select all
$ cd / && find -iname *ctl 2> /dev/null | grep nepo
$

I couldn't even find a debian package that would provide balooctl.

I solved it.

One has to install a package called baloo4 and reboot then. Maybe a relogin is sufficient, but I restarted. After that, there is a 'balooctl' and a lot of integration stuff working. For example, I can search e-mails by content in kMail AND krunner now.

I hope that this is helping someone.
