I wanted to use the "Recently Accessed" items in the side pane of Dolphin. I realised that I didn't have baloo installed so I installed baloo4 via pacman (in Arch). `balooctl status` informed me that it was inactive, so I ran `balooctl enable`. I then restarted KDE with `kbuildsycoca4 ; kquitapp plasma-desktop ; sleep 2 ; kstart plasma-desktop`.

Baloo ran for a while, and I checked it with `balooctl status`. Interestingly it choked on a few files.

Code: Select all
$ balooctl status
Baloo File Indexer is running
Indexed 16372 / 16398 files

Anyway, after it seemed to have settled down, I tried opening a file in Dolphin, then looking at the "Recently Accessed" files for today. This file was not in it. Strangely enough, there were a few files that I had not manually accessed present:
Code: Select all
/var/tmp/kdecache-sparhawk/icon-cache.kcache
/var/tmp/kdecache-sparhawk/ksycoca4
/var/tmp/kdecache-sparhawk/ksycoca4stamp
/var/tmp/kdecache-sparhawk/plasma_theme_Helium_v4.1.0.kcache
/var/tmp/kdecache-sparhawk/plasma_theme_internal-system-colors.kcache

Also, I've noticed that the Kickoff Application Launcher's "Recently Used" tab appears to refresh correctly, just not the one in Dolphin. This is after opening a file either from Dolphin or even using kde-open from the command line.
