Both in Dolphin and with baloosearch, the result of finding files is not limited to a specified directory. It always spans across the whole indexed directories. This is independent of a search by name or file content, and is encountered on two hosts.

I could not find a similar report here or at bugs.kde.org.

Can any one confirm this unexpected behavior? Any workaround ?

I can't help on the reason for your problem.
But I've had this problem,
and I now use KFind to search specific folders.
I go to my file manager (Nemo),
right click on the folder,
open with,
KFind.
