I see that Dolphin can find text in .doc files and pdf files and a lot more. But not in .docx. How to search for text in docx?
I am on Manjaro, I installed it with the default Xfce desktop, and then added KDE desktop. I know the standard answer is to use Recoll, which I have used successfully on other distros. But last night after I added KDE desktop, I installed Recoll, and it went repeatedly to 100% usage and froze the system. That never happened to me before. Maybe Dolphin was doing its initial index at the same time as Recoll? I am just trying to guess. |

Dolphin supports full text search for Microsofts "Office OpenXML" format (.docx, pptx, ...). In case it does not work, there is something irregular about the file. Please open a bug report and attach the affected file(s).

I just tried searches with a couple different words, and it consistently misses all the docx files with those words. I am talking about dozens of docx files, and the text is in standard roman characters, so it's not just a corrupted file or two. |

As I said - if you want the problem solved, open a bug report, and attach (some of) the files affected. A forum is not a bug tracker. |

I opened a report for this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427453

I closed the report because some confusion was involved. KFind does not use Baloo and it seems my own system has some glitch that prevents Baloo from properly indexing DOCX files, while the same functionality works on other systems. |
