KDE search and Krunner

Fri Mar 27, 2020 7:03 pm
Hello,

I have recently installed Manjaro KDE on a Pinebook Pro together with Freeplane mind maps.

Whenever I use the windows key or krunner to search for a Freeplane file I cannot find it. The exception is if I have recently accessed the file, in which case it shows up in Recently opened.

Can anyone explain this strange behaviour and how I can launch these files using Krunner without having recently opened them?

Thx.

maybe the Baloo indexing doesn't have them yet. You might want to tweak what is included/excluded from this btw.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

How do I do this? Specifically I would like to know why the Recent KRunner plugin lists Freeplane files (.mm) and not the Locations plugin, as well as why the Bookmark plugin doesn't see Firefox bookmarks.

BTW I'm running
Operating System: Manjaro-ARM
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
Qt Version: 5.14.1
Kernel Version: 5.6.0-0.42-MANJARO-ARM
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 6 ×
Memory: 3.7 GiB of RAM

Hi!

The main tool for you is balooctl which will show you the current settings.
Code: Select all
balooctl status  # display current state
balooctl config list [type]  # to list current settings

If baloo hangs on a specific file you can get this triggering
Code: Select all
qdbus org.kde.baloo /fileindexer org.kde.baloo.fileindexer.currentFile
which normally results in an empty string as file indexing is quite fast.
