Nepomuk : how to kill definitively ?

Sat Aug 01, 2009 12:56 pm
As I don't have any use of Nepomuk, I have disable the service (user+root).

However, one nepomuk process is still loaded at boot.
I can kill it with a script at each boot of course.

But better, how to 100% prevent nepomuk to be launched ?

That process is autolaunched somehow, and I do not know why however. You may wish to check for Nepomuk D-Bus autolaunch files, in the appropriate /usr/ location.

Be aware that your package manager will likely revert such changes automatically when updating packages.

I remember to have removed /usr/share/autostart/nepomukserver.desktop

And now it's back again.

The guilty is kdebase-runtime-data

I see just now the OpenSuse "How do I get rid of the nepomuk virus ?" discussion.

In the meantime, I wrote this script, to be executed each time kdebase-runtime-data is updated.

Code: Select all
#! /bin/bash

sudo rm /usr/bin/nepomuk*
sudo rm /usr/lib/kde4/*nepomuk*
sudo rm /usr/share/kde4/services/*nepomuk*
sudo rm /usr/share/autostart/nepomukserver.desktop
