Use Nepomuk to set up a folder with a filter?

Hi All

I would like to set up a folder that contains a link too all of the PDF files in a particular folder (and all its subfolders). I'm sure that it must be possible to do this with Nepomuk (i.e. set up an appropriate search and 'attach' it somehow to a folder) but I although I have searched the Nepomuk website I can't see how to do this (I can't even understand how to set up the appropriate search).

With grateful thanks to anybody more knowledgeable than myself!

You can try something like:

nepomuksearch:/ path:/your path/ and mimeType:application/pdf

but I don't sure it that will work on your system because Nepomuk/Strigi don't works well. Nepomuk query syntax was in early stage and has very limited syntax, crash with folder view on KDE startup (I don't have received a notification about this bug was fixed) and results are not accurate so, same query could respond with different results.

Other option is learn SPARQL, wait to KDE 4.4, or use Trunk, and build a complex SPARQL query syntax to do the job. Please, take care that most of query documentation that was available in kde.org don't works with KDE 4.3 and was written with KDE 4.4 in mind.

I think that the simplest option, and the most accurate, is tag all your pdf files and do a simple query

nepomuksearch:/ tag="my chosen tag"

Good luck.

Many thanks for your response. I have tried to set up the query but with no success... perhaps there is some other way to what I want, such as by using find... I will try!
