sesame backend for strigi

Sun Nov 08, 2009 7:36 pm
hi

i use kde 4.3.3
i installed sesame backend

in the control manager, i enable nepomuk and strig... don't know if it's ok

qdbus org.kde.NepomukStorage /nepomukstorage usedSopranoBackend

return me sesame2 so is the correct backend who is used

when i check with top, nepomukservices use like 90% of my cpu...

i read on the web sesame2 should not use so muck cpu...

is it normal?

where is the UI to do some search with strigi?

Can you please provide details on how many directories you have selected for indexing? If you leave it for a while the CPU load should settle, once it has completed indexing.

around 4 folder...
around 40gig

after all was indexing, cpu load was down...

i think, this kind of program should not use as much cpu when it's is use...

when there is not activity... ok...

Virtuoso was available as backend and, in my test, works better than sesame2. If you need documentation about install and configure Nepomuk and Virtuoso you can found it in Trueg's Blog (http://trueg.wordpress.com/2009/10/22/v ... h-feeling/).

I believe Trueg's blog entry contained instructions on how to switch from Sesame2 to Virtuoso.

A few weeks ago priority was Sesame2, Redland and, probably, in last place, Virtuoso because it was in early stages of development.
Future plans are use Virtuoso as default backend but now, with openSUSE 11.1, works fine with minor some freeze time to time. Sadly, in openSUSE 11.2 virtuoso backend is not available yet so I can't update.

Yes, in Factory, but I not very happy with Factory packages because I have a lot of problems with openSUSE 11.1 factory packages. I think that my openSUSE test time is past history.

Actually KDE 4.x support is better in my particular case in openSUSE 11.1 than in openSUSE 11.2, I have both installed, and I don't need to upgrade so I prefer wait a few months before change.
