Before those lines start there is a very long query. Could you please post that along with your ~/.kde/share/config/nepomukstrigirc.

thanks for your efforts by the way

Here is the first lines after restarting and the file shrinking beginning
(it is hard to read):

Code: Select all
nepomukservicestub nepomukstrigiservice
nepomukstrigiservice(17899)/kdecore (KSycoca) KSycocaPrivate::openDatabase: Trying to open ksycoca from  "/mnt/sdb1/tmp/kdecache-myuser/ksycoca4"
nepomukstrigiservice(17899)/nepomuk (library) <unnamed>::GlobalModelContainer::init: Connecting to local socket "/usr/dotkde4/share/apps/nepomuk/socket"
Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString)
nepomukstrigiservice(17899)/kdeui (KNotification) KStatusNotifierItemDBus::KStatusNotifierItemDBus: service is "org.kde.StatusNotifierItem-17899-1"
nepomukstrigiservice(17899)/kdeui (KNotification) KStatusNotifierItemPrivate::registerToDaemon: Registering a client interface to the KStatusNotifierWatcher
nepomukstrigiservice(17899)/nepomuk (strigi service) Nepomuk::IndexScheduler::setIndexingSpeed: 2 SnailPace
nepomukstrigiservice(17899)/nepomuk (strigi service) Nepomuk::IndexScheduler::removeOldAndUnwantedEntries: "select distinct ?g ?url where { ?r <http://www.semanticdesktop.org/ontologies/2007/01/19/nie#url> ?url . ?g <http://www.strigi.org/fields#indexGraphFor> ?r . FILTER(REGEX(STR(?url),'^file:/')) . FILTER(!REGEX(STR(?url),'^file:///home/myuser/domestic/passport')) . }"
nepomukstrigiservice(17899)/nepomuk (strigi service) Nepomuk::IndexScheduler::removeOldAndUnwantedEntries: Removing  QUrl( "file:///usr/dotkde4/share/apps/korganizer" )
nepomukstrigiservice(17899)/nepomuk (strigi service) Nepomuk::IndexScheduler::removeOldAndUnwantedEntries: Removing  QUrl( "file:///usr/dotkde4/share/apps/korganizer/income.reply" )

And here is my nepomukstrigirc

Code: Select all
[General]
exclude filters=.*/,.*,*~,*.part
exclude folders[$e]=/usr/cmydocs/Texts,/usr/dotkde4/share/apps/korganizer/designer,/usr/dotkde4/share/apps/korganizer/income.delegated,/usr/dotkde4/share/apps/korganizer/income.tentative,/usr/dotkde4/share/apps/korganizer/income.cancel,/usr/dotkde4/share/apps/korganizer/income.counter,/usr/dotkde4/share/apps/korganizer/income.accepted,/usr/dotkde4/share/apps/korganizer/income.reply
first run=false
folders[$e]=/usr/dotkde4/share/apps/korganizer,$HOME/domestic/taxes,$HOME/domestic/passport,/usr/cmydocs
index hidden folders=true
index newly mounted=false

just a strange update - I removed the korganizer files
from the list of folders to be searched and nepomuk now
appears stable - it no longer starts shrinking the
list of indexed files to zero and then rebuilds (and
then repeats).

I have no idea why getting rid of korganizer folder/files
would help with this problem.

I have an idea (a bug) and I also have a fix: http://pastebin.ca/1831551. Could you please apply it (on a clean 4.4.1 code) and rerun with the original config that made problems.

OK - I applied the patch and added the korganizer files to
the search.

So far, everything is working perfectly. So far, no shrinking/
growing oscillation...

a happy update: I added my kmail files to the index (which has
caused a lot of trouble in the past). nepomuk/strigi churned
away for quite a while quietly in the background indexing
about 1 gb of mail.

While nepomukservices grew to about 700mb memory use, it completed
indexing successfully. I restarted kde to get nepomuk memory footprint
down and the index was successfull "re-initialized" (if that's the
right word - it raced through indexing and went idle without
doing any damage to the index).

I can now search for mail.

Working great so far.

thanks for the patches

now that kde 4.4.2 is out I've of course lost the patches.
Will they work as they are on the 4.4.2 packages?

TIA
