Unfortunately, nepomuk does not show any directories in the search results - only files.

Let's say I have a directory named "Foo Bar" and I search for "Foo Bar" with dolphin, then nothing shows up.

This is rather unpractical. Can I tell nepomuk (or dolphin?) to search for directory names as well?

On a side note: Is the file index supposed to auto-update when the contents of a folder change? Because it doesn't. When I create a new file in my home directory, it isn't recognized until I re-login and wait for a few minutes...

Nepomuk is supposed to detect changes to any files or folders underneath your home directory, yes.

I would consider it a bug that it doesn't index the presence of directories also, please file one at bugs.kde.org.

Maybe it does index directories, but for some reason they are omitted from the search results. Do you know a way I could test that? :)

Can you tweak the search results that are displayed in Dolphin?

Unfortunately, the search bar doesn't really offer many options, and the few it does offer are rather confusing.

Particularly, the "What:" drop down box:
It offers "Images", "Text" and "Filenames" which doesn't make much sense.

"Images" and "Text" are file-types. Selecting one of these restricts the search results to only show files of that type (by the way, why is there only these two? what about video, audio etc...).

On the other hand "Filenames" causes the search to ignore file contents and match only by file name. It doesn't really belong into that drop down box because it is not a type of file like the other two.

It would make a lot more sense if there were two dropdown boxes like:
Type: ["Any", "Pictures", "Documents", "Videos", "Audio Files", ...]
Match: ["Everything", "Only By Filename", "Only By Content", ...]

It's really sad that the desktop search is unusable because the interfaces are so bad.

The search itself works really fast now, indexes quietly in the background and stays invisible most of the time, just like it should.
However, the great work that was done "under the hood" is made pointless by unrefined interfaces (the search interface was not changed at all from 4.4).

But I see, I'm getting off-topic here, sorry. :-\

Search your SEARCH-WORD in Dolphin, enter ALT-ENTER on one file of the found files and the file address is wrong shown as: "/ (nepomuksearch)" :-\

If you take krusader filemanager and enter in the location toolbar "nepomuksearch:/SEARCH-WORD/" you will get the same list of found files as in Dolphin, but when you are looking for the file properties (ALT-ENTER is not working in my krusader installation) the address field is showing the complete file address. :)

[Edit] Oh, I see, my answer does not fit to the thread's topic. I had not read the first post carefully.
