hi everyone, so every now and then strigi file searching simply does not work. I can type in anything to search for, and no matter what I enter, nothing comes. Nepomuk Strigi file indexing status shows "0 files in index" with "store size 80.0 MB". I just indexed everything again yesterday, and it was working. Nepomuk does crash every time I shut it down (i.e. logout), I am using the Raster rendering backend and have to sacrifice a little stability for speed Could that be the problem?

I have a similar problem, when I am doing the initial scan and have to restart my computer, after booting up, strigi kicks in again and it keeps the previous database (at least the nepomuk store size is same), however number of indexed files starts dropping. It only stops at 0.
Any hints as to what might be wrong? I have removed ~/.kde4/share/apps/nepomuk several times already, no success. I am running KDE SC 4.5.3 and nepomuk with virtuoso backend on OpenSuse 11.3. |

This sounds very unusual. Can you check ~/.xsession-errors after enabling all debug areas in "kdebugdialog" to see if any reason is output as to why this is happening?

"very unusual"? It's new expression for "damn buggy"?

No, very unusual means it is behaviour I am not aware of / have experienced, and is not supposed to happen.

Hmm, very unusual that you did not experienced this
There's a bug report. Strigi randomly (every boot or second or third) decide to ignore database and starts indexing from the beginning. |

Sorry for not responding, had a crazy week.
Anyway, this behavior was really frequent, nothing unusual. However, forgot I opted into the KDE trunk repository, so yesterday I accidentally updated to 4.6 beta1. Even though some things are broken, it seems that this annoying bug of nepomuk & strigi might be fixed. I will give it a couple more days and let you know. |
