Hi, am using KDE 4.5.3 on PClinuxOS 2010.10.
So far I have managed to start nepomuk (by typing nepomukserver in konsole) and then enabling desktop search and strigi from systemsettings. The strigi icon showed up and started indexing my home dir. after a while it became idle. Rebooted system, the strigi icon was there and made sure nepomukservice is running. However when searched for a file from within dolphin, no results showed up. Starting dolphin from konsole gives the following output: [
Then after googling a while I tried this:
I have libclucene0 & libqtclucene installed on the system, why won't strigi find a backend? and if it couldn't find it then why it still shows as indexed and why the search service icon shows up in system tray, how can I rectify this problem? Thanks.

strigidaemon, despite it's name is not used by Nepomuk indexing of files. Strigi itself is, but not the search daemon provided by the Strigi project.
Nepomuk Search seems to work fine here, how are you searching using it? With Dolphin/KRunner?

By working I mean that it is running i.e when I open Desktop Search in systemsettings and tick 'Enable Nepomuk Semantic Desktop' it won't complain that nepomukservice is not running, also if I tick 'Enable Strigi daemon file indexer' it won't complain, but rather I can see the pregress of files being indexed. After it has finished indexing, it sits idle, and I still am not able to find anything from dolphin's search bar or krunner. on a side note the '~/.strigi/clucene' dir is empty, so I thought strigi is somehow showing but not making any database files, hence I tried the commandline option 'strigidaemon &' and strigi complains that it cannot recognize backend clucene and then exits like this:

Nepomuk will start nepomukserver as needed.
As I previously stated, Nepomuk does NOT use strigidaemon. Nepomuk indexing data is stored in the Nepomuk database, which is located at ~/.kde4/share/apps/nepomuk/ Not sure why it doesn't work for you, but the search interface has improved quite a bit in KDE 4.6.

Oh, ma bad!
yup I found a ~80 MB soprano-virtuoso.db (so it does make the database) however it is not accessed by dolphin/krunner? coz in mandriva one with KDE 4.4.3, the search worked...is there a service in dolphin to use nepomuk? if so what would be it's name? I can't find any related service in dolphin which says tag this or search or anything related to searh and nepomuk...

In KDE 4.6 at least, simply pressing Ctrl + F displays the search interface. Not sure how it works in earlier versions though, as the interface is new to this release.

4.6 will have to wait!... but I can't find it on this website, the home page download section says KDE 4.5.3 SC (recommended to end users) besides if it was working in kde 4.4 then it should work in 4.5.3 as well...just missing something in configuration(I guess).
*Edit - Switched back to 4.4 *Edit
