Hi all,
I use nepomuk / Strigi since 1 year and I can't imagine a Kde distribution without this feature. Those last days, I gave a try to PCLinuxOS. I wanted to show you their answers when I wanted to activate Strigi / Nepomuk http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.ph ... 193.0.html Edit 12/6/2010 : Cool, as no one has a solution and and especially no one know how works Nepomuk 2010, they have deleted the thread where I mentioned the problem Still here : https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B_EollKevdSHMWJmOWRjMGMtZWM3Yi00YjE0LThkYjEtYzIxNzUyYzg4MzQx&hl=fr

That is quite shocking in terms of feedback from a distributor. That they took deliberate steps to sabotage functionality is even worse. I suggest they check the output of CMake properly, as it is possible to build without Soprano/Nepomuk even compiled in.
They should also be aware of the increasing loss of functionality they will experience with KDE 4.6 as without Akonadi, KDE PIM 4.6 will be completely useless. Akonadi depends on Nepomuk for search. As a result, they must either drop KDE PIM, or reverse the sabotage. In addition, activities won't function properly without Nepomuk.

[Edit 12/2/2010]
Finally Nepomuk can be started and the files indexed with this packages kdebase4-runtime-nepomuk (4.5.4-1pclos2010) libsmokebase3 (4.5.2-1pclos2010) libsmokenepomuk3 (4.5.2-1pclos2010) libsmokenepomukquery3 (4.5.2-1pclos2010) libsmokeqtcore3 (4.5.2-1pclos2010) libsmokeqtgui3 (4.5.2-1pclos2010) BUT : Allways impossible to make a search using Nepomuk - no results found with Dolphin searchbar - popup "Bad URL Form" when I click on a Nepomuk link in Krunner it remains a pity that PCLOS does not value Nepomuk |

I gather even the nepomuksearch:/ KIO slave does not work?
If it doesn't, you may need to wait until 4.6, where the reliability of this has improved significantly.

Does this happen to opensuse 11.3? Can anyone confirm this?

openSUSE has not taken the steps which PCLinuxOS has done as far as I am aware.
