Hi,
It is some time now, at least from 4.6beta1, that nepomuk keeps indexing files from folders not selected for indexing at each login.

I have only my Documents folder selected for indexing but with "lsof" I see that nepomukservicestub is indexing files also from another folder (at least the first (alphabetically) folder of my homedir which is rather huge). This is very annoying, although It doesn't seem to be really indexed. Maybe this is the reason why it is scanned at every login.
I tried to delete virtuoso database and and the likes without any success.
Any clue?

What argument comes after "nepomukservicestub"? I suspect it will be "filewatcher". If it is, then Nepomuk isn't indexing it, but simply setting up watches for this. If you have a large number of files in your home directory, then please place the following in a script in ~/.kde4/Autostart:

Code: Select all
sleep 2s && qdbus org.kde.NepomukServer /servicemanager stopService nepomukfilewatch &

It is "/usr/bin/nepomukservicestub nepomukfilewatch".

I put that script and nepomukfilewatch disappeared.
I don't understand why nepomuk has to set watches for files I don't need to keep indexed.
Anyway thank you, it solved the problem!

Nepomuk watches everything under your home directory according to it's developer so it can detect where you move files, and move the metadata it stores as well.
