Hi, I just wanted to ask what data is backed up with the Nepomuk Backup Tool that seems to be included since KDE 4.6. Since Kontact and co. (Kmail/Addressbook/etc.) now use that back-end, is it possible to use the tool for a full migration. Is Amarok also use it, or is it still using a seperate database?
Thanks, Moritz |

Amarok uses it's own seperate, internal MySQL database, and has no Nepomuk integration.
Akonadi stores a cache of information it accesses in it's own MySQL server, which is then loaded in Nepomuk as well for searching purposes. Unfortunately I don't know if Akonadi search data is backed up by the Nepomuk Backup Tool. Note that even if it does, the data itself is of no help as the original information is sourced from the sources you add to Akonadi.

Thanks for the quick reply.
In the next days I'll checkout all the data it actually migrates. The Search data itself is of minor relevance, since it can be recreated from the same set of data (files and folders). |
