Borked nepomuk?

Wed Aug 10, 2011 12:48 pm
Since some time (KDE 4.7? installing kdepim 4.6?) I can not get in contact with all the smartness. Filtering or searching in dolphin returns blank boxes, bangarang crashes etc.

Need I delete all the data? Do some hidden secret configuration?

It feels stupid that nepomuk/strigi is using all that CPU for nothing, and I would actually like to use it!

i think there is some hidden configuration and you do not need to delete all data but unfortunately i do not know it

If you want to reset your Nepomuk database, shutdown Nepomuk (qdbus org.kde.NepomukServer /nepomukserver quit) then run:

rm -rf $(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/apps/nepomuk/repository/

Hi, I have the same problem on KDE 4.7 on openSUSE 11.4. The nepomuk search in Dolphin doesn't return anything anymore. It used to work just 2 months ago.

I tried to remove the database, but that didn't help. I also get Nepomuk crashes every few days for unknown reasons, so maybe that's something to investigate into (I'll post a backtrace when available). In the meantime, are there any more tips?

Thanks a lot!

I would suggest checking the output of ~/.xsession-errors and making sure all updates are applied, especially ones involving kde/nepomuk/virtuoso-t/soprano.

Finally I get to dedicate some time to this problem again. I don't mean to hijack this thread though. If the original poster has made any progress, maybe he could share his solution with us? The above suggested command did not help me. And I get tired of having to manually search out every email address... ;-)

Anyways, there's tons of nepomuk-related stuff in .xsession-errors. This is everything that contains the word "nepomuk" (I used grep nepomuk .xsession-errors, not sure if that is right). The filtered output can be found here. Grateful for help!

EDIT: I should note that not only do I not get functioning dolphin searches, I also can't search my email (in Kmail), or even write an email without having to hand-pick every address (because the addressee-field doesn't provide any suggestions). This is what I was referring to in the first paragraph.
