While i appreciate the nepomuk based search engine and have used it really extensively now.. once in a while i connect my friends hard drive to my computer and i want to search something for it. But I don't want to index his hard drive. In that case, it would be very helpful to have a old search engine somewhere in the options (somewhere where it can be located easily).

Why is it not there? I would very much appreciate it if someone tells me how to go about it. If not, can I file it as a feature request. Since the option was already present and well developed, I am assuming there would be no time required to get the feature working again.. am I right?

As far as I am aware, at least in KDE 4.7, if a directory is not indexed then Dolphin will fallback and perform manual searching automatically..
