Hellos everyone
I know this is a really odd thought. but has anyone thought in making a layer that is equal to a image in file on the computer. like I have the *.KRA will all layers and color information in each but then I have a image layer inside it that reads and saves directlley into a file on the computer accting as a sort of hyperlink. so if I make changes on that image on another application the changes would be directlley felt on the krita file. I find myself updating alot image files just because of minor diferences as I tweak output from my 3D app ((ussually blender)). I really think such a thing could be cool to have. 3D apps ussually have dependencys on relative path files to compose the final result so why not a 2D painting app, if krita could work in such a way it could me easy cross over for files and for their edits. btw I came across with a feature inside blender that was created for the movie "sintel" that I really find cool and I think ilustrates a bit what I have been looking for on this regard of 3D and 2D image painting. basically with this I can do what PS does alone with 3D layers but it has a limitation since it stores a bunch of sequencial images for each new swap. perhaps krita readding and updating what blender creates on the moment would be cool to kindda emulate a 3D view port for krita. like PS has 2 documents one for the 3D layer and another for the UVlayout. here we would have blender for the 3D viewport and krita for the UV layout and projected 3D viewport. I would find it niftty. Screenshot : http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=70386 Blender demonstration of Reproject : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNd54jgesgk |

We already have this? They are called File Layers?
There's still work that's gonna be done to them, but they exist. |

Filter layers do that although painting on them doesn't work yet. That's up for the next fundraiser.

OMG I can't believe they are already in place. it s like having the weirdest thought and it already existing and making absolute sense to be.
Saddley the path layer is read only and is editable only upon a conversion. if editing on((krita)) it would be possible and affecting the source path directlley((like it was another file present on the document itself)) as much as the normal kirta document it would be perfect! it would only need a reload source to ensure it would display the most recent render, to when it would be updated from another app and not just from krita itself. My god I can't believe this layer really exists. I think there is no other painting app that has such a thing. I find Krita more and more unique and awesome as I know more about it. really, I love Krita <3 |

Editing of the File Layer is planned for 2.9, if we get the funding campaign going and bringing home the bacon
