I think the best way would be to add a setting to change the maximum number of presets in the palette in a 10-30 range or so.

Additionally I think we could use the tagging system to make different sets of preset and then switch between them in the palette. The tags already correspond to the grouping that you want, so I don't think you need a separate profile for the presets that would require two ways to manage your presets.

I'd love that solution. Getting both quick preset switching and the possibility of holding more than ten if wanted would be awesome.

I'm glad you brought up the tag-populating idea; I almost suggested the same thing but went with the other suggestion instead. In fact, it was my first thought on it, but I couldn't think of an elegant solution for how to deal with cases where there are more tagged brushes than the palette can hold, so I opted for the other suggestion because I didn't want to offer a suggestion with an obvious problem like that.

Any idea on how that would be handled?

The preset number setting and the preset based popup are now in git master.

Nice soultion!
One note: tags seem to be unordered in popup palette configuration menu; i think it would be nice to have them sorted somehow — alphabetically, for example.

Already? Awesome, thanks. Didn't expect to see it that quickly :)

Looking forward to the next krita lime update so that I can play with this.

It's been 31 hours since this feature got in. No, there's not a test-build yet.

Though I'm sure slangkamp will be flattered.

@slangkamp - nice idea for configuring the amount of brushes on the palette. I think it is better as a configurable setting than changing the default. I think the default will be ok for most people. Good job!

Got the updated krita-testing today, so I had a chance to use the updated presets and it's great. Spent way too much time setting up some new tags specifically for the presets and will probably waste a lot more getting it just right. The quick switching is awesome. :D

Thanks again for doing that.
