I would love to see Krita be able to open these .rif files from Corel. .rif is the native file extension for Corel painter and right now Krita cannot open them. I have several .rif files from an outdated version of corel painter which I would love to be able to import and or work on in Krita. I hope the future holds a patch that will add this feature!!! >:D

Have you tried to move them over in PSD format?

Hi Tjoker,

It's rather unlikely, I'm afraid: the problem with Painter rif files is that the format is completely undocumented. Even with documentation, it's a big job to implement support for a proprietary format, just look as psd, but when there's no documentation at all it becomes close to impossible.

I really wish we could do more -- and I also admit to curiosity. One of the things people keep telling me about painter rif files is how unstable they are, how easily they get corrupted, and I would like to know how it's organized internally.
