I am a heavy user of image programs, I usually do things which is not reccomended in any way either including creating images which are WAY too large when drawing things.
I want to know what the current way of dealing with compression is, does .kra compress the project? I like Krita and it's a fun and intuitive program, but I need to have some form of simple compression avalible for ridiculous projects (GIMP is still my goto pixelart program, pixelart don't need no compression). If compression is built in it would be nice if it was documented someware, if compression doesn't exist it would be nice to have it implemented sometime in the future. |

Kra files are zip archives. Internally, the layers are already compressed when saving using lzf. You can enable compression for the archives in the Setttings dialog.

Ok, I thought I solved the issue on windows, but I have problems on linux, here on ubuntu I don't have the tabs (misc. tab) where I can find the setting for compression, linux krita is version 2.9.2, windows is 2.9.7 ... 2.9.2 was the latest download using the terminal in ubuntu, is it to old for compression support?

No, the tabs are just a 2.9.7 cosmetic change, the option has been there since April. Not sure which 2.9 version that corresponds too, though. It's not a big thing, it only makes a difference for the size of the images on disk, not in memory.

will compile 2.9.7 manually, gonna see if that works

You should de-install your system-provided calligra/krita.

now it quits because it can't find any brushes, getting there though! edit: whoops accidentally made /usr root by moving files and merging, will fix that tomorrow (them root permission adventures) but otherwise I have everything installed and ready, will try to fix tomorrow and I'll report back then. |

Ok, deemed installing this manually by compiling to be downright impossible, moving files the safest way broke gnome and all icons, reinstalling the earlier krita broke all of krita, but saved ubuntu. Hope someone out there can actually make a .deb for us debian users

Sounds like you did not follow the build guide -- the best one is http://www.davidrevoy.com/article193/gu ... x-for-cats

have tried that after purging Krita and build project, thing refuses to work, it keeps trying to access the Krita files in /usr for me, even if I follow along exactly, and this is the only project that has refused to compile for me. GIMP 2.9 beta, Code::Blocks (don't remember version) and something else all compiled and installed fine for me. edit: It seems after purging and doing the same thing again got it working, just need to create a custom launcher for Krita |
