Short summary:
I am a 3D artist and I love Krita. A major thing that I am missing (or just don't know how to do with Krita) is the conversion of a black and white height map to a normal map (that could be used in a modern game engine). Krita is almost perfect for me, because the tiling feature allows me create very nicely tiling textures. The issue is that I have to go to another program to convert those textures to normal maps. Note that even Photoshop requires a plug-in to do this. If Krita had some filters like this, it would be a great tool for any 3D artist. http://cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online |

That's actually one of the stretch goals for the current Kickstarter, #11.:

Oh wow, that's actually great! But I suspect other stretch-goals will probably win out.
Wouldn't it be relatively easy to make it a G'MIC filter? There are already different types of 3D conversions in there. |
