Hi Krita team,

I hope this is the right place for feature requests.
Under "Layer" you already find the "Flatten Image" command, which does exactly what it is supposed to. I think it would be really nice, if there is also an "Flatten image to new layer" command, which does basically the same, but instead of getting rid of all layers it should create one at the top with the flattened result. If I remember it correctly it was crtl+shift+alt+e in photoshop and I used it quite often. I would be really happy to see this small feature pop up in krita at one day or another.

Thanks for all your amazing work,
Johannes

Sorry, I think this Topic should be moved to "Krita Development". I don't know, why I missed this section when I was looking for where to post this topic ;)

Hi johannesw

In the latest release and build from source this feature is already present.
you can go to layer menu > new> new from visible . it basically copies whatever is visible and creates a new layer which is similar to flattening to a new layer .

you can assign shortcut for this in the settings.

Alternative way but needs more clicks and pressses -> select all canvas , then Ctrl + Shift +C to copy visible ( or merged) and then Ctrl + V to paste on a new layer.

Thanks kamathraghavendra!

Cool! I didn't know, that ctrl+shift+c does exactly what I wanted! And so awesome to hear, that they already implemented my request. I just love Krita!

Maybe this option could be added in the layer widget to be more accessible?
