I guess you need to write to neon maintainers then. Or may be you have broken ubuntu. |

Hello
Only found out about Krita yesterday and I'm so excited about it. I particularly like the input possibilities one can have on paint strokes and over all the good sense and options and control one can have, without being utterly complicated. I'v put it on FB and a friend asked me if it does animation. So i'm trying to install this plugin in a Windows 7 machine. I have the Calligra Suite, but I have no folder like " krita/plugins/extensions/dockers/" where I can put the files. I do have though a folder like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Calligra\share\apps\kritaplugins". Do you guys know anyway I could install the plugin in Win? Thanks ![]() |

Seems like the development has paused.
I greatly appreciate the efforts to getting this plugin where it is. Now that Krita 2.4 is out, can we expect an easier way to test/use? can this be made into a ".calligra-extension" file? can we checkout the plugin separate from calligra, with something like "git clone -b krita-animator-plugin-new-mlshi kde:calligra" then compile the plugin separately? Or does all of krita have to be compiled. if so how do you activate this branch during compilation? I'm not too tech savvy and i'd like to find out how I can test, i'm currently using ubuntu 12.04 with krita 2.4. thanks to anyone who can help me understand |

Hi Ike,
I asked the author of the animation plugin whether he felt we could make his plugin part of Krita 2.5, but I haven't got an answer yet. I hope he returns to his work because it would be a great addition and much requested. |

thanks. Torio Mlshi's last post on his blog made it sound like it was really quite usable as it is after the rewrite. I'd like to use this on my next short film. It will be my second all FOSS animation. The first I used 3D mostly so the FOSS tools are there. But 2d animation on linux is not very strong. At least not for painterly animation. Krita + animtion would make krita a strong competitor for TVPaintPro.

I have calligra & krita successfully built form source now and I want to try out this animation plugin, but I am not sure where to check out the code to, as described here:
http://toriomlshi.wordpress.com/2011/06 ... ion-plans/ ... do I check out in the top level src directory (calligra/calligra-src -- created from the build script)? And then do I rebuild krita completely?

i can't find the cause
why so often projects are paused -or abandoned- right on the verge of release or merge a little poem i made. it's beautiful i think. but in all serious, great job to torio mlshi for the work thus far. hopefully he/she or some other developer can push the code to a release soon. i'll have to move on to another 3D project until i can do painterly animation in Linux with a good brush engine. |

There's always TVPaint... it's not FOSS, but it runs on Linux now...

yeah i mentioned tvpaintpro upthread, but i'm not shelling out that kind of cash or stealing it when i can't even use it to support Open Animation. I have enough ideas that i can do stopmotion (Kdenliove) 3d (blender, others), or handdrawn until/if krita or mypaint's animation solutions are usable/released. TV Paint Pro is a great program though i've used the demo, but krita+animation would be much better for me.

Currently there is no direct way to install the plugin. You need to get the branch and compile it yourself.

I built this plugin today and gave it a spin. The workflow doesn't seem very intuitive (I have used apps like TVPaint and Toon Boom), it's not clear how to add frames or use the light table. It seemed no matter what frame I chose to draw on, it always drew on the same frame. It's not clear if I am actually selecting a different frame to draw on or not. And the docker kept changing the number of frames for my scene. I set it to 12 and kept reverting back to 0, or shortening the number of frames in the timeline.
