I've just tried and given up with both Unity and Gnome 3 on Ubuntu 12.04. Unpredictable and inconsistent, not to mention very limited customisation possibility, especially Unity. So I installed KDE.
KDE 4.8.4 looks great so far, but I've somehow managed to reassign the mouse right-button from an empty desktop. It now lists Application categories instead of the menu containing the desktop configuration choice. Which means I can't reassign the button. How can I get back to the original setting(s) as painlessly as possible?

left click cashew (upper right corner) -> default desktop settings -> mouse actions -> ............
alt+d,alt+s (clicked quickly, with focus on empty spot on desktop) will do the same |

Thank you very much, 01103. The second method fixed it. (Can't see any "cashew", anywhere on the screen.)

I can see the cashew now. I think something else might've been overlaying it. It looks strangely reminiscent of the Gnome logo . . . ![]() ![]() Not a particularly good idea, I would've thought. Any idea why they did that?

In terms of colour, the logo is quite different and is supposed to represent a 'cashew' I believe.
