This is my problem:
We deliver a linuxbased system ( Suse 12.2 ) with KDE4 and our software for our customer. If I try to set some specific setting in /etc/kde4/share/config ( like : never use nepomuk, switch to folder view and so on ) but KDE never recognize them. What I need is the possibility to set a paket of instruction to create a "default kde setting" for our user. Is there any documentation for the rc files? How can I mange this? |

Kiosk:
http://techbase.kde.org/KDE_System_Administration http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiosk_(KDE) http://techbase.kde.org/KDE_System_Admi ... troduction No idea whether nepomuk is configurable in this regard, but you can just compile KDE w/o nepomuk or akonadi (and all consequences) |

There is no documentation I am aware of for the *rc files - other than the source code of the applications themselves.
The locations KDE will search for configuration files will depend upon the distribution - but /etc/kde/ and /etc/kde4/ are both common locations. The command "kde4-config --path config" will reveal what locations, and in what order, those locations will be searched. Note that if your user already has local configuration files they will override the system wide ones unless those values are set to be immutable per the Kiosk instructions. As for Plasma - you may want to look into Javascript based setup instead, which will be more reliable over the long term.
