Kubuntu tweaking automation

Tue Jan 08, 2013 1:42 pm
(Not sure this is the right forum branch to post this.)

I did a Python script for customizing Kubuntu to my needs. I found that each time i install Kubuntui do the same set of actions: install packages, set fonts, tweak other system settings. So i did a script to automate this. I think some people would be interested in using it. Currently it has only actions i use myself, but others might want to extend it, creating their own action packages.

I did a screencast about how i use it on clean Kubuntu 12.10 installation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7XmXBw-qmc

The script is for Kubuntu 12.10, as it uses apt and its python bindings. It also uses Python 3 (I think Kubuntu 12.10+ will always have Python 3 installed by default). Also actions done by me expect packages from Ubuntu repositories. And so on.

Here are the sources: https://github.com/warvariuc/mykde

I use this tool myself, but i think availability of such tools can make KDE more popular and at the end better.
