Is it possible to change(shrink) the program tab sizes on the main panel? Here's a pic of what i mean.

The size of those items is determined dynamically, depending on the number of open windows it is currently displaying, and the size it has available to it. You might want to try Icon Tasks if you are after a pure icon based version.

Thanks, that's exactly what i was looking for. Is it possible to use customized icons with Icon Tasks?.
