I've installed KDE using Slackware on an odroid U3, ARM device. Big hack.
But I am having problems with fonts. I've been struggling with it for days and getting nowhere. And have difficulty explaining what the problem is without a picture. So here are the pictures with a brief description This shows the text in the Ksnapshot dialog - completely messed up. ![]() This shows the text in Dolphin and Ksnapshot - a mixed bag here. Ksnapshot still messed up. Most of the text on Dolphin is alright except in the title bar. ![]() What do I need to fix this problem. It appears to me that I'm missing some tool that KDE uses to render some fonts as some are OK and others are not. Any suggestions will be most welcome. Thanks Alex |

no clue but could you list the things you've tried as it might be useful
in sytemsettings -> application appearance -> fonts, when you click any of the "choose" buttons do the fonts look ok when a selected font is displayed at the bottom? |

The text in sytemsettings -> application appearance -> fonts is correct except for the text in the Title Bar. See image below

you played with changing fonts (adjust all fonts) and anti-aliasing?
do you have any non-KDE apps installed (FF, VLC, sMplayer, Chrome(ium))? do they have the font issues |

The output of
I turned off anti-alias and that made a massive improvement ![]() The rendering looks poor with what I'm used to, but the text is perfectly readable now. What I need to determine is, is there anything I can do to correct the problem with anti-aliasing. Alex |

a) likely a driver bug (glyph cache?)
b) run "kcmshell4 kwincompositing" and set the graphicssystem to "raster" (it's anyway the Qt default and only backend in Qt5 - native is only hanging around in kwin because xrender compositing initially had a massive overhead on the raster graphicssystem) i'm not sure whether the native graphicssystem is required for ksnapshot (in kde sc4), though. |
