Thanks to all the feedback and help.

I have installed Chrome and it is nearly as light as Midori and definitively much much lighter than Chromium. Chromium is the real culprit here! A resource hog! An I always thought it was the better alternative!

I also installed Calligra because I needed an MSAccess replacement. So far so good but the suite is definitely a work in progress but it could have a great future if you guys debug it thoroughly.

Anyway. I will learn about scheduling to make my system even more responsive and will wait until the next lts and maybe get a new laptop at that point in time.
