Dear all,
I upgraded my Fedora system of everyday use over the weekend to the latest release. Quoting from the release notes, "The Plasma desktop in Fedora 22 is upgraded to version 5, which is based on Qt 5 and KDE Frameworks 5." I have been experiencing a few issues with the font rendering quality in general (slight blurring perception, increased eye strain) and have tried to refine the aliasing and hinting settings with little effect. I was particularly troubled by the difference in the quality of the fonts shown by kfontview versus gnome-font-viewer, which makes me suspect there is something strange on the KDE side of things. See the following screenshot, showing KDE's font viewer in the background: http://pasteboard.co/1NJm1Rtw.png Does anyone know how I could go about improving this? Are there other obvious settings in addition to the system-wide (~/.fonts.conf) aliasing and hinting that I should look at? Any pointers would be highly appreciated! Cheers! Vitor. |

*lol* - I can confirm that issue, but it seems a bug contained within the fontinst preview - I've not seen font issues anywhere else in any other KDE/Qt5 application.
But that's of course a bug - apparently filed here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336089 |

Thanks, luebking. The font previewer being a "red herring" here brings me some peace of mind ![]() |
