KFontView doesn't render fonts

Sat Oct 10, 2015 7:53 pm
Code: Select all
$ uname -roms
Linux 4.2.2-1-ARCH x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ kfontview --version
Qt: 5.5.0
KDE Frameworks: 5.14.0
Font Viewer: 5.4.2

It's basically what the title says. Here's a screenshot http://i.imgur.com/QilGti2.png. It's happening with every font. It's been happening for quite a long time, but no update ever since has fixed it. I have no Idea what might cause it.

in the mean time you can view fonts using
Code: Select all
kcmshell5 fonts

not sure the cause but I have it also

I seen no bug report on bugs.kde.org but Google'ing showed some similar issues on 2 distro bug systems:
- https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1208229
- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1437260

Implication in existing bug reports appears to be graphics related with Nvidia drivers
