Is there something like the Muon Update Notifier icon that works in Debian?
I've recently switched to Debian 8.2 KDE (with KDE 4.14) from Kubuntu 14.04 (because Kubuntu sometimes froze for me) and although it works fine, the main thing that I miss is the Muon Update Notifier icon. That icon would remain in the System tray, grey for inactive, bright green for available updates, and bright red for security updates. Now, I have to manually check for updates, but having got used to the visual prompt from the icon in the Kubuntu System Tray, I tend to forget for days at a time. Debian does provide notification messages for the updates, but I have to be looking at the screen at the right moment to see those. |

You could download the Muon (KDE4) sources from the Ubuntu: http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywo ... ection=all Or if you like tinkering - You could install the 'update-notifier-common' : https://packages.debian.org/wheezy/upda ... ier-common and wrap up your own notification system. ![]() |
