Maybe this: Bug 373167 - Plain Qt file picker instead of KDE's - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373167

Fixed with the KDE Applications 16.12 ie.
Code: Select all
$ spectacle -v
spectacle 16.12.0 - Everything Is Going To Be Alright

That does sound like the same issue but I have spectacle 16.12.0. I don't think it is restricted to spectacle either, I've noticed it with other programs. I asked some people using the same distro and versions but they don't experience the same problem. The puzzling thing is that it happens with a freshly created user as well so I don't know where to look now.

Looking what was the change: https://cgit.kde.org/spectacle.git/log/ -> https://cgit.kde.org/spectacle.git/comm ... 7ac84e955e
Use native file dialog for the Save As option

The native file dialog has an image preview option which is lacking in
the widget-based Qt file dialog.

What Qt/KF5 versions do you have ?
Any error messages if you start the Spectacle from the Konsole and click the 'Save as' ?

That so weird, I got an update last night which bumped plasma from 5.8.4 to 5.8.5, qt from 5.7.0 to 5.7.1, and KF from 5.28.0 to 5.29.0 which seems to have fixed the problem. I didn't think to try it last night but trying it from konsole now everything looks as it does in that screenshot.
Thanks for the help.
