changing desktop wallpaper via CLI

Sun Jun 18, 2017 1:01 am
Hi guy! im new user of kde/plasma5 and im still learning everything about it and I totally love it :D! so.. my problem:

I have a personal script that changes my desktop wallpaper depending on the hour of the day... the problem is that before kde/plasma5 I used to use GNome as D.E, and there I used to change the wallpaper with $gsettings <blablabla> but now, try to search how to do it here in kde/plasma5 and I couldnt find anything useful...
Anyone who knows how i could make it works ??

specially thanks, bless! 8-)

The plasma wallpaper can be set with a dbus command: Bug 217950 - Ability to set desktop wallpaper via a dbus command - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217950

Plasma D-Bus scripting only works if the Plasma widgets are unlocked.

A trick is to setup a slideshow wallpaper using a directory with a single image, and just copy/symlink the new image whenever you want to change it. Plasma watches the directory, and reloads the image on changes.
