Hello,

after installing KDE Neon User 5.11 yesterday, I just found that the system settings dialogs show no previews when I want to download new themes, wallpapers and alike. Google didn't help except that .xession-errors was mentioned. But this file didn't show anything that seems to be related to the missing previews/thumbnails. Thumbnails in Dolphin work fine, btw.

Does anybody have an idea what might cause the problem?

Thanks,

Robert

If you mean the 'Loading Preview' bug:

Bug 385516 - Loading Preview icon stuck : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385516

Should be fixed with: https://cgit.kde.org/knewstuff.git/comm ... 7a5e1b976b

Hi,

thanks for your quick reply!

And, yes, that's exactly what I see. But I'm afraid that I won't be able to make use of the C++ source files the link in your post is pointing to. Is there perhaps some compiled stuff a user without deep Linux knowledge can install?

The bug and the fix is part of the KDE frameworks. Next planned, KF 5.40, release is 'Sat November 11th, 2017' : https://community.kde.org/Schedules -> https://community.kde.org/Schedules/Frameworks

This bug has been annoying me for years now and it is still alive and kicking in 2023 on my system:

Code: Select all
Operating System: KDE neon 5.26
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.102.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8
Kernel Version: 5.15.93 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Memory: 15.2 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 530

Is there any good news? Has anyone been able to fix this by now?

This bug seems to be related to permissions: if you call

Code: Select all
sudo systemsettings

everything works as expected.

I am still shocked, though, that this bug is still alive in 2023. :(
