Konsole History Filling Hard Drive

Fri Feb 15, 2019 2:07 pm
Hello,

I'm a SysAdmin for several servers running Konsole. I have a user that I assume runs a lot of scripts. The binary history files stored in /tmp/kde-username/ are filling the hard drive with binary history files (konsole-XXXXXX.history). We've seen them over 2 Gigs. Is there a way to set a max? Or, do I have to write a cron to purge this directory everyday?

Thank you,
Jay

Konsole's scrollback can be configured per konsole profile. The default is a fixed size of 1000 lines, but can be set to Unlimited. Exiting (cleanly) the konsole session should purge the scrollback file for that session.

This is usually configured though konsole's settings dialogs, but you can also change the files manually in the user's $XDG_DATA_HOME/konsole/*.profile files.
