I am converting from Mac to Linux for work environment. So far so good, pleasantly surprised by Plasma.

There are a couple of things I am trying to find.

For instance, how can I setup KDE to expand abbreviation on the fly, for example, when typing "mma" I want it replace by with my email address.

How can this be done?

this entirely depends on the application you would use, not all support using shortcuts. An example where this is possible is Konversation. So you need to be more specific about where you would want to use this.
