when I hit the meta key 'windows key' the application launcher is triggered, albeit In system settings > workspace > shortcuts, the application launcher is bound to Alt-F1. How do I disable this shortcut and reclaim the "windows" key ?

not sure you can reclaim the Meta key, as it might be defined on a lower level.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Somebody on IRC advised to remove the Alt-F1 default keybinding, and magically now the Meta key has been also "unbound". I don't know how or why, but those two key combinations seem to be related.
