Hello,
I own a chinese netbook. I've installed different distros but the touchpad is not working no matter what. KDE is my favorite but i cannot make my touchpad working. Ive searched on forums for answers but there is nothing that will make my touchpad functional. I know that the touchpad is not defective because it works great with win10. Please, you are my last hope. Tell what can I do to make my touchpad working on kde. Thank you! |

define "chinese netbook", no name or is it a Lenovo?
Do you have a mouse connected? That disables the touchpad automatically on start in Plasma 5.17, you can change this in the System Settings.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Yes you are right. But I dont think that the brand matters because it's a rebranded chinese netbook here in my country. Its called vero k147. It has: Intel Celeron N3350 4GB RAM 32GB eMMC No I boot it with no mouse. But I've tried connecting a usb mouse and it works, but not the touchpad. I really have no other idea on what to do. |

This is not related to KDE, but probably to an unusual touchpad firmware, and that is handled by the kernel. Please provide the following output:

The touchpad is recognized (Intel HID 5 button array), but I guess you have a driver issue.
You didn't specify your distribution and Plasma version, but I suggest you look for a package called "libinput" and/or "synaptics". Both are xserver related packages, libinput is the newer one. If you have both, you should remove the synaptics one, then restart the machine. FWIW: I move this thread to the subforum it belongs, no action needed from you about the move.

I use the latest version of kubuntu. I have the synaptics package manager and I downloaded the libinput and synaptics touchpad drivers but nothing.. I removed synaptics and left libinput as you said but nothing. The thing is that now nothing works after the last reboot with only libinput installed. The keybord/usb mouse are dead and I cannot even reboot. Im now waiting to run out of battery....The touchpad also doeasnt work. I have tried to pressing Fn + F2 (that has a mouse on/off icon) but nothing. |
