Bluetooth earphones battery level

Mon Jan 13, 2020 10:19 pm
Hi, how can I view battery level for my bluetooth earphones? On my Samsung Galaxy phone I can see it on bluetooth settings, but on Plasma 5.17 couldn't find a way to display it, although I can connect and disconnect properly to devices.

Would like to see battery level in both command line and GUI ways.

It is a hardware issue, not a KDE or Plasma one. I believe the device has to support reporting of battery levels in the kernel, or at least in a way it understands, and not all devices do. I have 2 bt mice and one bt keyboard, and all show battery levels. I also have an external trackpad that does not. In the past I have had some headsets that show them , and others that didn't.

If the device is not seen via upower -e then it won't show up in any battery or power monitoring system, as I understand it.
Annoying, for sure.

It's BlueZ related.
