Hello there,
I'm really happy using KDE and I'm really grateful to everyone who is working on it and making KDE even better. There is just 1 issue that really bothers me. The Win (Meta) key stop opens the Start menu (Application launcher) sometimes. I'm using it very often in order to run some app. The interesting thing is that when the bug occurs meta key is still working - I still could use shortcuts like Meta + D or any other shortcut using meta key, just start menu doesn't open. (Alt + F1 works) I have to restart the OS or Kwin at least in order to fix it. That's annoying. I don't know what causes this bug. There are days that do not occur. Maybe it's because of Kubuntu, but my PC running Kubuntu 19.10 and my laptop 18.04, and this bug appears in both places. My PC specs: Operating System: Kubuntu 19.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.62.0 Qt Version: 5.12.4 Kernel Version: 5.3.0-42-generic OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 1600X Six-Core Processor Memory: 15,7 GiB of RAM GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB Theme: Breeze Dark [KDE], Breeze [GTK2/3] Icons: la-capitaine-icon-theme [KDE], la-capitaine-icon-theme [GTK2/3] |

Edit: my bad I misread your versions.
Did you change something in the shortcuts?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I have few custom shortcuts. Win + R open my terminal Win + E open Dolphin (I'm not sure if this is not a default shortcut) CTRL + SHIFT + ESC = System Monitor I can remember for any other custom shortcut. Like I said, the Meta button works correctly in most times, but in some situations (which I can't simulate in the moment) the button stops open Start menu. Every other shortcut using Meta button works correctly at this time. |

I use Kubuntu as well but have never seen such a behavior. It would be nice to find a way to reproduce this. So far I haven't made any specific shortcuts with that key but one, Meta+Space to switch my keyboard layouts which I use fairly often.

Hi!
I am experiencing a similar issue. The mata key suddenly stopped working. However since I am switching quite often my display configuration it happens from time to time that desktop configs are lost and recreated. On such a new desktop the meta key works fine again. I have yet to try deleting all my desktop config to see if this will fix the issue. Edit: Also I just realized that I have ~10 Activate Application Launcher Widget-Shortcut entries. If I go through all of them and assign alt+F1 to the right one then the menu opens as expected but only on one of the desktops. Not sure why I have so many shortcut entries. Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.10.10-arch1-1 OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz Memory: 31,1 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 620 |

Something that seems to have mysteriously worked is to edit the plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc where once the [Containments][PANEL_NUMBER][Applets][APPLICATION_LAUNCHER_WIDGET_NUMBER][Shortcuts] line is found, change the line right below it to: global=[Meta;NoModifier]...Then restart plasma via something like:
And then the meta key by itself opens the application widget (which in my case is the kickoff-with-favorites-in-a-grid-widget) once again, despite the "[Meta;NoModifier]" disappearing after the plasma restart... |
