I have a weird problem. For some reason, most of my icons in my KDE 4.1 are showing up in shades of bluish-purple instead of in the correct color scheme of the icons (see my image below).
![]() All the icons except for Firefox and the system tray are showing up in shades of this bluish-purple color and I cannot figure out why. All the menu items are the same as well! The only menu item's icon that shows correctly is Firefox. Does anyone have any clue why this is happening and how I can fix it? --Stewart McGuire P.S. If the flikr image doesn't show up in my post, use this link to go to the image at Flikr: Taskbar Image

I am using the standard Oxygen Plasma Theme and it doesn't matter what color scheme I pick, the icons remain the same. Currently I have it set to Norway but it showed the same when I had it set to the Oxygen color scheme as well.[hr] BTW, is there any way of taking a screen capture of the menus? I tried to use Ksnapshot, but as soon as you try to click on the capture button in Ksnapshot the menu goes away. Most Windows screen capture applications that I have used hook a hotkey to activate the screen capture (like the print screen button) so you can capture anything on the screen including the menus.

It is unfortunate that KHotKeys is broken in KDE 4.1 ( a refactor of it was done for 4.2 ) so using KSnapShot is not possible. since Plasma is responsible for the taskbar, could you please ( with plasma not running ) remove:
Also try removing anything plasma-* in ~/.kde4/cache-/ where hostname is the name of your computer ( the command "hostname" will tell you what it is ) Note that if you are running Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex you will need to change .kde4 to .kde

You can set a delay at the capturing of some seconds. So you can capture menues etc. At least that is what i do in these cases. |

The shortcut is Ctrl+Print Screen or something like that (you can set it in System Settings, Keyboard & Mouse module). However, you underestimate KSnapShot. Try "Region" and set a delay.
Edit: Geez! Why am I so zetta slow today? Check System Settings -> Appearance -> Icons. Try another icon theme. Does it help? Look in the "Advanced" tab. Do you have any effects set? (Such as colorize).

I do indeed have Intrepid Ibex installed. I will follow those instructions and see if that cleans up my plasma.
Also, Thanks everyone for the tips in Ksnapshot. I was wondering what that delay was for![hr]
Well, that reset all my desktop settings, however my menu icons are still this funky shade of bluish-purple. I have attached a sample from Ksnapshot (now that I know how to capture the menu)! ![]() Any other suggestions?

Your problem lies somewhere in
System Settings > Icons > Advanced (tab) Find any purple icons, click "Set effect" and change it from "Colorize" to "No Effect"
