I had set this option previously but I decided to start over but it seems like since I set that option the menu has changed and no longer has it in the same place. This is what I see on the Default Applications menu:
Image
It doesn't have an option to open all http/https URLs in the browser anymore so it will open image links in an image viewer for example but I just want them to open in the browser. Where can I set this option? I'm on Arch Linux with Plasma 5.19.1

From what application are you opening the link(s)? Sometimes the application itself has a setting that overrides the other. Thunderbird can do this.

I have tested it with Riot and Discord, images open in an image viewer with both of them. I am pretty sure it is not just individual application causing this. I remember there being an option before that allowed you to do what I want to do that looked like this:
Image
but I don't have that option.

That image looks like from a very old Plasma version, this setting was moved long ago to
System Settings -> Personalisation -> Applications -> Default Applications -> Web Browser

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

The setting was removed in Plasma 5.19, see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423401

I think it is something specific to the programs used - discord seems to be downloading the image (or it is already downloaded), then sending it to the image viewer, as opposed to simply presenting a thumbnail and web link. Using discord via the web interface works as you expect. Not sure how you tell the app to use a browser as opposed to an image viewer, if this is the case.
