Changing icons of file types

Wed Nov 26, 2008 9:23 pm
Hi,

I'm currently using kde 4.1.3 on opensuse11, and i noticed that several file types, like *.po or *.sfw, don't have any icons associated with them (e.g. the used icon is a question mark). In kde 3.5 i could change that by going to the file associations in the filetypes module of kcontrol, click on the icon and choose another one. But with kde 4.1, changing the icon is no longer possible in this module.

Is there another way to change the icon used for the file type?

Here's the relevant wishlist report: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158895
In theory if you copy and existing icon to the icons directory with the name of the mimetype, it should respect that and load the icon.
